What is Simply Music Rhapsody
Imagine gathering with families around a drum bigger than you’ve ever seen. Children explore the drum with fingers and hands to a lively Simply Music blues piece. Parents smile, children giggle and everyone moves together.
Imagine the drum becoming a boat with young riders aboard. We sing “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” while parents take turn playing the ukulele.
Brightly colored glockenspiels wait with xylophones for little musicians to bring them to life though their creative ensembles, improvisations and accompaniments. A child discovers the joy in sharing a musical idea and experiencing it in the music he is making.
Puppets come alive and eyes light up as children eagerly wait for their turn to sing to Cocoa the Horse, the Little Clown or the Gray Squirrel.
The piano keys signal an invitation to make beautiful music, weaving the threads of piano playing into the experience of music making.
Now imagine a child recognizing piano songs that he heard as a little child and learning to actually play those pieces himself! His attention is on playing, not reading and he learns to play classical, contemporary, blues, and jazz. He already has laid a foundation of composition, improvisation and accompaniment which now happen at the piano! The child plays with expression and emotion and confidence.
Sound like fun? In Simply Music Rhapsody, it is all about the fun and developing a life long love of music through exploration of voices, movement and instruments.
Simply Music Rhapsody is a fresh approach to early childhood music education. Through the use of unique instruments, puppets, and a no-hurry approach, young children are engaged every step of the way. The Simply Music Rhapsody journey begins at birth and continues for a lifetime. Young students are fully prepared for Simply Music playing-based piano lessons through their participation in our early childhood component.
Simply Music and Music Rhapsody have orchestrated a comprehensive, progressive curriculum that addresses each developmental stage and gives children an opportunity to experience themselves as musicians. Their developing musicianship prepares them for Simply Music playing-based piano lessons and other formal instrument instruction.
