Fairfield School of Music is the only local school to offer the revolutionary, piano method, Simply Music. This program is perfect for beginners or students who have had less than 18 months of lessons.
Simply Music is a playing-based method. We temporarily delay the reading process to first develop a repertoire of 30-40 fantastic sounding pieces in various styles, including Classical, Jazz/Blues, Contemporary, and Accompaniment.
In the same way that all children learn to talk before they learn to read or write, students learn to “speak” the language of music before reading it. Through this natural learning process, students achieve amazing results at the piano in a short period of time.
Simply Music lessons are offered in a group and private format. All of our Simply Music teachers have undergone extensive training and are licensed by the Simply Music organization to teach this unique method.
Play-a-Story Piano is an age-appropriate and creative way for young children to learn basic piano skills.
Play-a-Story is a musical journey in which you and your child travel through a storybook world. It uses the piano as its mode of travel, creating sounds, melodies, harmonies and rhythms to express the story. In fact, students literally create their own musical soundtrack to each specially created storybook and DVD. Children learn different musical sounds, motifs, styles, shapes and dynamics, creating a comprehensive, improvisational vocabulary.
Play-a-Story is the perfect bridge between our early childhood program, Simply Music Rhapsody, and more formal music instruction.

Traditional Piano: Beginner-Advanced
Traditional Methodology in Classical, Jazz and More:
Traditional piano lessons are available for children and adults of all levels. This approach teaches note-reading early in the learning process. For beginners, students typically learn to read music and play songs from a particular method book recommended by their instructor, in addition to supplementary materials and pieces requested by the student. The songs they learn usually span many genres and are not limited to just Classical.
At the Intermediate and Advanced levels, students expand both their Music Theory knowledge and their repertoire. At this point, sometimes students choose to specialize in a certain genre, such as Classical, Jazz, or Pop, or even Music Composition.
We have many highly qualified piano teachers on staff, so we can find the right fit for each student's ability and interests.
Traditional lessons are currently only available as private lessons, offered in increments of 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 1 hour.
